About Dr. Kun Liu

Dr. Kun Liu was born and grew up in a family of traditional Chinese medicine, China. She is the third generation practicing Chinese medicine in her family. She holds her bachelor’s degree in Acupuncture from Tian Jin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China, and a doctorate degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Five Branches University, San Jose, USA. Meanwhile, she is very interested in psychology and received her Master’s degree in psychology at California State University, Los Angeles. Dr. Liu strongly believes that treating patients both physically and psychologically is the ultimate goal to heal. She is a licensed acupuncturist both in California and Texas, and is currently practicing acupuncture and herbal medicine in Texas. She has 15 years of clinical experience, her specialties including:

• Infertility (female and male hormonal imbalance)
• Pain Management (knee pain, neuropathy, sciatica, etc.)
• Prediabetes Management (reduce A1C level)

The training Dr. Kun Liu received in China, was not only intensively in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture, but also extensively in Western medicine, which endowed her with comprehensive understanding on diseases both in traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine. A while back, when she was working as a licensed physician in China. She was treating over 100 patients a day with acupuncture during her busiest time and accordingly gained abundant experience there. 

Her father is a famous Chinese herbalist in China. She obtained valuable experience from her father in treating digestive intestines (GI) diseases, infertility, prediabetes, and many internal diseases. Commonly seen conditions like constipation, acid reflex, gut issues etc., all can be successfully treated with acupuncture and herbal medicine. Moreover, the nutritional knowledge Dr. Liu has learned through her continuing education, adds extra success to prevent relapse. 

While she was working in America, she followed famous Chinese Medicine fertility expert Dr. Yue-Fen Hu, who is a professor at Five Branches University, San Jose. They have been in treating infertility and IVF Support using both acupuncture and herbal medicine, which has successfully increased pregnancy rates and helped many families have babies.

She also followed renowned Auricular medicine experts Dr. Lichun Huang, and her first-generation student Dr. Eva Kwong in treating addictions, infertility, pain management and many other internal diseases with auricular acupuncture.  It is very effective. Due to pandemic, many people have developed various coping methods and unfortunately turned them into addiction afterwards, such as marijuana addiction, cigarette addiction, sugar addiction, alcohol addiction etc. Dr. Liu has been helping those addiction patients to recover. A lot of them have already stopped addiction successfully, some severe alcohol addiction cases are still in the process of healing with auricular acupuncture, body acupuncture and herbal medicine.

Pain management is also one of her expertise. Neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, elbow pain, migraines, etc. These pains can be easily treated with acupuncture. Besides acupuncture treatment, Dr. Liu usually combines cupping treatment to speed up the pain relief process. For knee pain, neuropathy and sciatica, she has her own unique style to help relieving pain quickly.

Dr. Liu has strong research background as well. She observed cells under microscope while she was working in China. By puncturing very particular acupoints can change certain cells numbers and shapes, which is phenomenal. For example, ST 36 (Zu San Li) can boost white blood cells for those who has low WBC counts patients and decrease WBC for those who has high WBC counts with infections. She has this unique scientific way to precisely apply her acupuncture skills and protocols to different individuals.  

Western Medicine mainly concentrates on persons' diseases, while Traditional Chinese Medicine is focusing on diseased persons, and to maintain healthy and keep longevity. What she could do differently than other acupuncture practitioners? Dr. Kun Liu has the mindset that testing provides a baseline of your health, and remarkable treatment results speak.
